Festival of percussion instruments– this is the name of the international biennial of percussionists and percussionists, organized by the Faculty of Music of the JAMU in Brno. The upcoming generation of percussionists from Czech and foreign conservatories and academies gets the opportunity to show their talent at the festival. The Percussion Festival was founded in 2010 as a graduation project of Kamila Petrasova.

The festival, which is a unique event in the Czech Republic thanks to its dramaturgy, aims to present percussion instruments as a unique element of contemporary music. This oldest and most extensive instrumental group permeates across various musical genres. That is why instruments such as timpani, drum set, marimba, djembe, bells, steel drums, vibraphone, templeblocks, gongs, timbales, bongos, cymbals, xylophone, darbukas… All this and much more can be heard by the young generation of performers during their festival concerts.

Since its inception in 2010, workshops and concerts by leading international teachers and soloists have been a highlight of the festival. This year’seighth edition, subtitled “Back to the Roots”, will bring guests from Mexico, Italy and Austria.

Accompanying events will traditionally be sales exhibitions of percussion instrument manufacturers.

Individual concerts, workshops and exhibitions are open to students and professionals as well as to the general public. Traditionally, everything will take place in theTheatre at Orlí / Musical and Dramatic Laboratory of JAMU from 28 to 30 November 2025.
