Experience and new impulses: the team of vice-deans of the Faculty of Music at JAMU

The Faculty of Music of the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts is entering a new period under the leadership of Jindřich Petráš and a team of vice-deans that combines continuity and new impulses. Two members, Jana Goliášová and Petr Lyko, are continuing their activities with the new faculty management, while two new vice-deans – Michal Indrák and Lucie Pešl Šilerová – bring a fresh perspective and new experience to the faculty management. Together, they form a balanced team that builds on the best practices while responding to the current challenges of the faculty. Jana Vondráčková continues as secretary of the faculty after the new management takes over.

Jana Goliášová

Vice-Dean for Student Affairs
Jana Goliášová is a graduate of JAMU and has been working at the faculty for a long time not only as a teacher at the Department of Wind Instruments, but also as an active chamber musician. She has collaborated with a number of top brass instrumentalists and has performed on concert stages throughout Europe. She has participated in recordings for Czech Radio in Brno and on the profile CD of clarinetist Vít Spilka. He regularly participates in the Summer Horn Courses in Broumov.

Petr Lyko

Vice-Dean for Science, Research and Strategy
Petr Lyko graduated in musicology at the Faculty of Arts of Palacký University in Olomouc, where he completed his master’s and doctoral studies. He completed further doctoral studies at the University of Ostrava and habilitated in 2023 at the Faculty of Music and Dance of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.

He has been a teacher at the Faculty of Music at the JAMU since 2016 and since 2017 he has been the Vice-Dean for Science, Research and Strategy. He is also actively involved in the professional life of the field – since 2010 he has been the vice-chairman of the Czech Society for Musicology.

His research focuses on the organ and organ building, especially in the context of Central Europe since the 19th century. century to the present. He is the author of a number of professional publications and monographs on the history of the organ, organ companies and the musical culture of the regions.

Lucie Pešl Šilerová

Vice-Dean for Foreign Affairs
Lucie Pešl Šilerová, in addition to her position as Vice-Dean, also holds the position of Head of the Department of Music Production. He has a long-standing commitment to bridging the fields of music, management and international relations and is committed to strengthening the European dimension of the academic and artistic environment.

She gained experience with international projects and grants as the founder and creative director of the Open House Brno festival, which received support from the Creative Europe programme. She is also the founder of the international professional meeting Symposium: art | music | management and has been involved in projects to support European doctoral programmes. From 2023 to 2024, she served as an evaluator for the Culture Moves Europe programme.

As an author of professional publications and visiting lecturer at foreign universities, she supports the involvement of the faculty in the international environment. In his new role, he wants to create opportunities and open doors for musicians to international professional practice.

Michal Indrák

Vice-Dean for Quality, External Relations, RUV and Dislocation
Michal Indrák, working as a lecturer at the Department of Composition and Multimedia Production, comes to the Vice-Dean’s team with knowledge of the academic environment and the functioning of the Faculty of Music of JAMU from the position of Vice-Rector for External Relations, where he was involved in issues of institutional development and relations with external partners.

Its agenda concerns both the day-to-day running of the faculty and its long-term direction in terms of regional and inter-institutional cooperation, relations with lower levels of education and artistic institutions, and issues of dislocation. Part of its agenda is also the HF JAMU Counselling Centre, which offers students and staff support in the field of study, professional and personal functioning and contributes to the development of a healthy academic environment at the faculty.
